Assistant Principal

Hi!  Thank you for visiting my page!  I am excited to be a part of the Lawrence County School District and the wonderful MES staff and to continue my administrative journey as your assistant principal.  I have been in education for 13 years, and have served at the elementary, middle school, and high school level.  I am the proud mother of my son Jace Ellis, who is attending the University of Mississippi where he is studying Business Management and Supply Chain Management, and I am currently enrolled at Mississippi State University earning my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership.

My educational philosophy is “to foster learning and positive perspectives.”

According to, foster means to “encourage or promote the development of (something, typically regarded as good.” Therefore as educators, we must foster learning in the classroom by fostering a love for learning within our students and within their parents, and we have to foster perspective.  We must foster a positive perspective.  One that showcases that all of our students can succeed.  One that values the diversity of our students’ home environments and embraces the diversity of our community.  And, one that focuses on how we can increase involvement—student, parent, and community.  As your assistant principal, I will strive to encourage and promote Monticello Elementary School, its students, parents, and its community.  I will encourage our students to succeed and to believe in their potential.  I will promote the successes of our school, our students, and our community.  And, I will love all of our students.

As I serve in the capacity of Assistant Principal my roles and responsibilities include the following:

Assisting, Mrs. Alicia Conerly, school principal, in the leadership, coordination, supervision and management of MES's day-to-day program and operation.

Implementing and Overseeing with fidelity MES's Multi-tiered Systems of Support.

Continuing to Develop and Implement, with my team, a PBIS system.

Our Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions Mission & Motto Statements are as follows:

The Monticello Elementary School PBIS team's mission is to ensure that all students learn in a positive and safe environment where all teachers and students are respected. This will be done to promote positive behavior and academic success.
